Mountain Glory Festival

I love the second weekend of every October! That means it is..... Mountain Glory Festival time! If you haven't visited downtown Marion before during Mountain Glory Festival weekend then let me just tell you what you are missing out on :) The WHOLE downtown is blocked off and lots of vendors set up and sell their handmade items.  I tend to like to get to the festival early because it gets crowded very quickly! I need time to browse around and not miss anything before the masses of people arrive :) hehe. Not only are there handmade goods, but you will find lots of FOOD, games, live music and various activities for the kids. The festivities start at 10AM and go all day until 6PM. Its a grand time and a "do not miss" if you are in the area.
I wanted to share a few photos with you I took during the 2017 festival!

I recently started making signs for clients and family/friends so I got really excited when I saw this booth! They make SUCH cute stuff :) If you are looking for any time of personalized sign.. these are your folks!

Here is the contact info below for the wood sign vendor! They do personalization!

If you haven't already heard... downtown Marion is getting its very first BREWERY. Big stuff folks! The owners of Mica Town are such nice people and I'm so excited for them to open. I bought a "Mug Membership" a few months back and while at the Mtn Glory Festival I decided to get some MicaTown gear. To check on their progress of the brewery be sure to follow their Facebook page. Link below

Every year they have this chalkboard sign and I love to go look at what everyone has written. As I mentioned earlier... I like to get to the festival early so my daughter was one of the first to write something down.. hers was "own a horse" :)

If you haven't been to Refinery 13 yet... then you need to! My good friend Sarah opened downtown Marion's very FIRST TAPROOM! This is a great addition to our downtown. Family friendly venue with lots of great stuff going on! While they were set up during the festival I was sure to pick up a Refinery 13 hat for my husband as he's been asking for one :) Be sure to follow them on Facebook. Link below

I wasn't able to get a card for this vendor but they had some of the neatest jewelry! I got a really pretty violet necklace and have worn it multiple times since buying last weekend.

ohhh.. and did I mention there was food???

A few years ago I started trying really hard to cut out as much processed sugars when cooking. I found myself using honey a lot so I always enjoy when I can buy it locally. Usually its sold in small containers but I was pleasantly surprised when I found it in a large container! This will come in handy during the fall and winter months when I tend to do more baking.

A sweet past client of mine had a really neat booth set up selling all things home made. Necklaces, head bands, soaps, signs, and so much more! I love crafty people!

My last stop was for soap. I always buy from the same people every year and have even ordered online from them before! Sweet people and even sweeter smelling soaps :)

It was a FUN day. Below is a photo of all my "treasures" Can't wait till next year!

a FALL-filled weekend!

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope this post finds you all to have enjoyed your weekend and are having a great start to this work week!
I had such a great  "FALL FILLED" weekend with my little family unit :)
(HOWEVER, it would have been nice if it was just a "little" cooler feeling outside lol)
We started Saturday off with heading down to the Octoberfest in Old Fort! There were lots of vendors, the museum was open, inflatables, and all things fried :)
Here is my crew right before we stuffed our faces with a yummy funnel cake and lemonades!

While we were sitting and eating our funnel cake we noticed that the store across the street was open, Sunnyside Trading CO. I hadn't had a chance to go in there yet so we walked across the street. Y'all, this is SUCH a FUN STORE! I wish I needed to decorate my entire house because I think I could furnish it here :) Very eclectic stuff! We enjoyed looking around.  It appears they have another store in Asheville but its definitely neat to have them here in Old Fort as well! Below is a link to their website:

After we visited Sunnyside Trading company we decided to walk through the Old Fort Museum. Im going to be honest.. this is something I have NEVER done before. shame on me! Anywhoo.. its VERY well put together and has lots of neat information. My daughter really enjoyed looking around as well! I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.

After Octoberfest we went home to rest for a bit then headed out to our local church for an AUTUMN FESTIVAL. It was so much fun. Pumpkin painting, hayrides, games, and games galore!
I love living in small town USA :)
How did you enjoy your weekend?

Downtown Marion TAILGATE Market

Hello Hello! Its WEDNESDAY y'all!
Yesterday I went to our local Tail Gate Market and I wanted to share with you a little about my experience.
First off... I think the whole "token system" is very cool! You can use your debit card and get tokens for however much you plan to spend and use those tokens to give each vendor when you buy something. Very neat process! Each token is $5 and you can get however many you like. If there is change due... the vendor just gives you the difference in cash or coins! Below is a pic of my tokens :) Extra bonus that they matched my shoes .....HEHE

I left with some WONDERFUL SMELLING SOAP... egg plant... and farm fresh EGGS! The soap smells SO CLEAN and it has a really cute design on it as well. I plan to make breaded eggplant and some noodles one evening this week and Ive already used the eggs! So tasty! Now for the BREAD.. if you want to know a way to my heart... buy this gal some bread :) I left with the Cinnamon Bread and oh man is it good! I made some Cinnamon Sugar Toast with it yesterday evening and it was loved by the whole family.
I think I will have to go back next week to get another loaf.
The tailgate market is every Tuesday from 3-6PM Be sure to go check it out :)
