Marion, NC...
"Where Main Street Meets the Mountains"
Hey Everyone! Who is ready for SPRING WEATHER?
I know that we both are!
Yesterday we had our monthly Board of Realtor Luncheon. The guest speaker was Bob Boyette (Marion City Manager) and he gave a really great presentation on things going on within our lovely city. The thing that we found most interesting is that our sweet little town has received quite a few awards and achievements over the years... see below!

Police Accreditation – Marion is one of about 30 cities in N.C. with a nationally accredited Police Department (through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies).
Certified Retirement Community – Marion is one of about 10 Certified Retirement Communities in N.C. Print pieces geared toward retirees are available from Chamber, TDA or City.
Playful City – Marion is a Playful City USA, based on City’s dedication to creating and maintaining places for play and recreation.
Tree City – Marion has been a Tree City USA for 25 years, as selected by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
Top Small Cities – In 2014, Marion was named one of Top 17 Small Cities in N.C. by Cities Journal.
Cost of Living – In 2014, Marion was named Top Small Town to Retire to in N.C. by ActiveNC.com, based on a cost of living calculator.
Water Award – Marion is 1 of 2 public water systems in N.C. to have received an award for excellent performance at our Water Plant all 12 years the award has been given by the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources. City received word from the State on March 3 that we would receive this award for 2014 as well, making it 13 years in a row.
Were you familiar that we had received any of these? Way to go Marion NC!!!! We surely do love this town :)
A special shout out to Bob Boyette for his presentation yesterday AND for sending me the list of our awards to share with you all :)
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
